The New York Public Library is the leading public library worldwide in social media! Our growing online community of fans and followers are joining us on all their favorite networking sites to read inspiring stories, share breaking news, enjoy photo galleries, blogs, audio and video downloads, and more.
With supporters across the globe, NYPL rounded out the year with more than 133,000 Twitter followers; 36,000 Facebook fans; 27,000 foursquare followers; and 7,000 Tumblr followers. The Library also won the 2010 NonProfit PR Awards for Best Use of Twitter through a Coordinated Staffing Model.
In February 2011, NYPL partnered with Social Media Week, a global conference about emerging trends in social and mobile media. The Library hosted the New York City opening reception, as well as several workshops. The five-day conference was held in nine different cities around the world, including New York, London, Rome, Hong Kong, and Paris.
